 Kahului Airport Terminal Complex Expansion

Airport work, a Geolabs Specialty, requires experience in all aspects of Geotechnical Engineering, testing, foundation work, site stabilization and pavement design.

Geolabs served as the geotechnical engineering consultant for all phases of the design of the Kahului Airport expansion project.  Included in the work was the evaluation of the existing aircraft and vehicular pavements for defects and effective service life. Design efforts included traffic analysis and design for new vehicular and aircraft pavements using Federal Highway Administration and Federal Aviation Administration methods as appropriate. The projects involved both rigid and flexible pavements with transitional thicknesses between sections with differing traffic loadings.

A new terminal building; air cargo building and baggage handling facility were also included in the project. Most of the field work was done during evening hours to avoid disruption of aircraft traffic schedules.
